In addition to delivering attentive care to his aesthetic surgery patients, he is an educator and a dedicated humanitarian. He donates his time to teaching medical residents and his surgical expertise in the care of the under-insured or uninsured at Children's Mercy and other area hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri. Also of special interest for Dr. Towle is his volunteer work with Medical Aid for Children of Latin America (MACLA). This work consists of surgically repairing congenital and acquired deformities of the Dominican Republic and Bolivian poor who need reconstructive plastic surgical work to restore function and normalcy to their lives. Dr. Towle began private practice in aesthetic, reconstructive and hand surgery after completing 13 years of medical and surgical training with specialized training in delicate microsurgery. He earned his medical degree in 1986 from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, and completed his general surgery residency at St. Louis University. He then completed his plastic surgery residency through the University of Missouri-Kansas City at Truman Medical Center and Children's Mercy Hospital as well as a hand fellowship. A qualified plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which is one of 16 certifying boards regulated by the American Board of Medical Specialties. As professional credentials are very important when selecting a plastic surgeon, Dr. Towle is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and earned his Certificate of Added Qualifications in hand surgery by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Towle is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Plastic Surgery at Children's Mercy Hospital through the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School and he is on staff at 10 area hospitals. He is licensed in both Missouri and Kansas. He operates at accredited facilities in both states as well in order to accommodate his patients.
